Peoples Organic
The black-and-white photos of coffee workers around the world that line the walls of the new Peoples Organic seem diametrically opposed to the restaurant's location in Edina's Galleria mall, a place where you can buy Tiffany jewelry and a 103-inch Bang and Olufsen television for $130,000. The food, however, speaks directly to every vegetarian- and vegan-loving heart. Coffee can be livened up with hemp milk, the morning is kicked off with a nutty bowl of spelt porridge, and diets can be maintained with a Zone-friendly egg-white omelet. The fact that Lynn Gordon, owner of veg-friendly French Meadow Bakery in Minneapolis, is the founder will only add to the delight of folks who lust after fair-trade, natural foods. Peoples Organic has a similar vibe to French Meadow—customers order at the counter, for one—and sandwiches and salads are easy to grab for on-the-go Edina folks. But savoring is encouraged: An outdoor patio will open when the weather is warm, the perfect spot to indulge in Surly on tap or a wide selection of organic and biodynamic wines. And they aren't kidding about the Peoples Best Veggie Burger, folks. Order it and indulge in chickpea goodness and homemade kettle chips.
