Best Place to Eat Out With Your Kids - 2011
It's Friday night, the end of a long week. Work was a bear. Carpooling to hockey/lacrosse/football/volleyball/baseball/ballet/hoops felt like the Bataan Death March, and everyone needs a break. The priorities are simple: a much-deserved beer and a plate filled with something more interesting than meatloaf for mom and dad, a face-stuffing extravaganza for the teenagers, and safe and predictable white food for the grade-schoolers. Something relatively close by would be nice. And a decent waitstaff would help seal the deal. Our vote: Green Mill. The monstrously gooey goodness of the Il Primo pizza—sausage, pepperoni, roasted mushrooms, red sauce, mozzarella, provolone, Parmesan, and Gorgonzola—will slow down even the most famished adolescent. Some Summit Extra Pale Ale will help the adults wash down a slab of blackened walleye or the Bourbon Flatiron Steak. And for the young-uns, maybe some good ol' mac and cheese will fit the bill. Did we mention kids 12 and under eat free on Tuesdays? What a great excuse for a midweek sojourn.
