Vincent Kartheiser

Vincent Kartheiser might not be a household name yet, but his character on Mad Men, uppity account manager Pete Campbell, is helping the cause. Kartheiser, a Minneapolis native, pursued his acting career in Los Angeles—anyone remember The Indian in the Cupboard? What sets Kartheiser apart from the rest? First, he managed to make power-hungry Pete Campbell likeable—a feat for a character who is a blackmailing, conniving, philandering playboy. Second, Kartheiser's commitment to the environment speaks volumes about personality and values outside the Hollywood bubble. Famed for giving away most of his possessions and living ascetically in an apartment akin to a wooden box, he also uses public transit as his main mode of transportation. Third, though he moved from the Land of 10,000 Lakes to the City of Angels, Kartheiser hasn't forgotten his roots, often hanging out in Minneapolis during his breaks from shooting. If Kartheiser doesn't sound like the perfect Minnesota-nice kind of talent, we don't know who does.
