This honor is well deserved. Despite living closer to other yarn shops, I drive to the Yarnery and consider it "my shop".
BEST YARN STORE - 2010
The Yarnery on Grand Avenue is in an old house, which is fitting, since no other knitting store in the Twin Cities (of which there are a crap-ton) makes beginning and experienced knitters feel so at home. To enter the house is to immerse yourself in a world of yarn possibilities and innovative techniques—every nook and cranny in the store is crammed with material. Looking for an interesting shade of alpaca? Just ask the Yarnery's staff and in seconds you'll be faced with more options than you had ever hoped for. Looking for a simple mitten pattern? Peruse the magic filing cabinet of knitting patterns, from the most basic projects to heavily cabled sweaters and shawls. The Yarnery is renowned for its classes, from beginner to advanced, and its location near tons of other shops and restaurants means it's always worth a trip. A tip for your first Yarnery adventure: They have a parking lot in the alley, so you don't have to fight for a spot on Grand.
