The store is smaller than other local favorites like Wet Paint in St. Paul, but it's got a decent selection of pastels, pencils, and paints, and the prices can't be beat. Everything in the Art Cellar is priced 20 percent below typical retail. Plus, the shop is a nonprofit business that benefits an MCAD scholarship fund, so you can feel good about helping fellow artists out. While you're there, stroll into the adjacent Minneapolis Institute of Arts, where you might get inspired enough to become a not-so-starving artist.
