Best Politician Minneapolis 2009 - Keith Ellison

Readers' Choice: Al Franken

Let's consider Minnesota politics over the past year, shall we? A governor rejected as the GOP vice presidential candidate still eyes the national spotlight by chatting it up on national news shows. A former senator who lost his re-election campaign refuses to face facts and puts our state through the never-ending recount from hell. And a suburban representative to Congress embarrasses the state and herself every few months by granting interviews to national media outlets. Notably absent from the biggest and most ridiculous political news stories in the Twin Cities is Fifth District Rep. Keith Ellison. Ellison quietly and thoughtfully discusses his opinions rather than brashly spewing them on cable TV, makes himself available to his constituents through ample public forums, and introduces common-sense legislation such as co-sponsoring the Uniting American Families Act, which would make it easier for same-sex, non-citizen couples to become American residents. All this, and Ellison recently toured the wreckage of the Gaza-Israeli fighting, after which he refused to take sides, instead calling for renewed diplomacy. It's no wonder Ellison won re-election in 2008 with almost 71 percent of the vote.

Congressman Ellison has been faithful to the people who elected him. His voting record reflects the views of our progressive district. He hasn't caved in to pressure from the Democratic House "leadership" that is dragging the country back into the shit-pile left by the Chimp. The House needs 100 more Keith Ellisons!

I was at one of Keith's appearances a couple of weeks ago; it was at a Catholic church, pretty much filled wall-to-wall with white Christians. He got a standing ovation. Sorry to say, but he isn't where he is because of "racism".

Keith won because of racism and religious bias from the somali community. Its a well known fact, take a look at who shows up at his meetings and why they voted for him (he is muslim)

Best Politician? This pretender? He runs on faith, not on what he can do or has done. Complete joke.

Give me a break!! I had a pretty good idea that this is a liberal rag, but this best of seals the deal. Ellison went to the Gaza on our dime and then proceeds to say the damage is unreal and caused by weapons made in the U.S. Just another bleeding heart ready to stomp on America. And that is enough to give him the best politician??? Get a life folks.

I am not going to argue Coleman. But if you are going to discuss who makes themselves visable to their constituents, I just have a couple of things to say. Our business is fighting a bogus law that passed in February, Bachman has returned every call and Ellison has yet to call us back after many attempts and two months. But, this is my experience, I hope others are better. I just think this may be more propoganda.
