These two cute but not cutesy shops—one near the Guthrie and one at the end of Lake Street by the Mississippi River—carry such fun, funky goods that if you can't find a gift for someone here, that person probably isn't very interesting. You can always fall back on a scented candle, but Corazon (the name means "heart" in Spanish) offers plenty of less predictable choices. It has a small, well-selected shelf of books, from Dr. Seuss to hip craft manuals to The Concise Guide to Sounding Smart at Parties. Unusual kids' toys and clothes and cheerful kitchen accessories make great presents when you want to add to friends' domestic bliss. There are affordable works by local artists like Amy Rice (and both locations host art openings). Other covetable items include purses made from recycled packaging, Day of the Dead knickknacks, picture frames handcrafted in Peru, and sophisticated sushi plates. Topped off with a card that's beautiful or funny or both from Corazon's wide selection, your gift won't be forgotten soon.
