The measure of a diner is not found in the records on its walls, the red pleather of its booths, or the chrome detailing on its jukeboxes, but rather in the quality and creativity of its menu. With its edgy twists on classic diner fare, Town Talk deserves the buzz that its name implies. For example, the brunch menu's huevos rancheros with twin chorizo tamales and a rich mole verde sauce departs so far from the Mexican classic that they hardly merit the same title, but they are so good that no one really minds. The orange-cinnamon aroma of bananas Foster French toast is mouthwatering, and the grilled asparagus on the eggs benedict is just the right touch. Traditionalists, too, will be happy to see the Classic Breakfast, or for dinner, staples like mac 'n' cheese, meatloaf, and burgers. Best of all, Town Talk has blended two grownup favorites—ice cream and alcohol—in its tasty adult malts. Feel like a kid, drink like an adult, and get a little saucy with your sugar rush.
