Readers' Choice: Town Talk Diner
Many bars around town have their own specialty cocktails. Often they've been given funny names that play off of double entendres, and contain about as much sugar and artificial coloring as a bowl of kids' cereal. It's harder to find a bar with specialty cocktails that one would actually enjoy drinking. Town Talk Diner is one of those bars. Though it's changed owners recently, the bartenders continue to create new and tasty concoctions. The adult malts and floats include Monkey Business (chocolate and banana liqueurs, peanut butter, bourbon), German Chocolate Cake (Bacardi coconut rum, butterscotch liqueur, chocolate sauce, coconut juice), and the Irish Float (Guinness beer and vanilla ice cream)—all well worth their $11 price. If you're looking for something more practical and less frou-frou, they also mix a mean martini, old-fashioned, and the undeniably delicious Blackberry Sage Swizzle (scarlet ibis rum, house-made blackberry sage liqueur, lime juice, sparkling wine) all in the $7 to $8 range.
