Ah, the Happy Gnome. A veritable who's-who, or rather what's-what, of esoteric craft brews, equally keen on imports and domestics. Forty-four draft beers line three separate rails. Every other day or so, a new brand of keg replaces an old. Not a wide enough selection for you? The St. Paul watering hole also boasts more than 300 bottled beers—91 from Belgium (the Holy Land of ales) alone. Forty-four of them are listed as "rare and/or in limited supply." It's a long, tall order, sampling every single one of the Gnome's varieties of suds, but we can scarcely think of a more worthwhile, if liver-deteriorating, pursuit.

Wonderful bar. Great food. Spectacular beer selection. Would support it for 'Best Neighborhood Bar'...but it's definitely *not* a brewpub. I'd say Town Hall deserves this award.

A great bar with an impressive array of beers, but not a brewpub (as far as I know, they don't brew their own beer).

The Happy Gnome is great no doubt. But beer snobs would never refer to it as a brewpub. It is a beer bar. A great bar with a great beer selection on tap and bottle. BREWPUBS actually BREW their own beer on site. big mistake peeps. I'm sure you'll be hearing from more beer dorks about this one.

While the description of the Gnome is right on, and they deserve praise for their commitment to high quality beer, they do not brew beer, so are not a brew pub. It's too bad City Pages didn't actually give the award to a brew pub, as there are some good ones around town.

This is beyond stupid and makes me wonder if more than 2 people reviewed these choices...how could this win the award for best BREW PUB? I now will question the credibility of your entire "Best of" section, for this is one royal f*** up.
