Readers' Choice: Lake Calhoun

If you're looking for a beach to show off your toned pecs or barely there bikini, you've come to the wrong place. We've heard it a million times: Hidden Beach just isn't what it used to be. To that we say: Who cares? Yes, Hidden Beach used to be actually hidden and was known as the beach of punks and skinny-dippers. But there's still no beach that can make people feel more welcome. Bring your spare tire, your one-piece suit from last season, and a good book. The punks, hipsters, haves, have-nots, and everyone in between call Hidden Beach their own. This is the place to relax on a perfect sunny day and not feel like the entire beach is there to judge. Take a dip in Cedar Lake, lounge in the sun, or grab a perfect reading spot in the shade. And if you're feeling adventurous, join "Mud Man" at the mud pit for some sloppy fun. Don't worry, it all rinses off in the lake, and a good mud fight will never feel so refreshing.

FYI: Read all about it, past and present, at Wikipedia. Lots of pictures, and a cartoon too!
