Best Band to Break Up in the Past 12 Months - 2009
I'm late to join the coversation here, but I gotta say that I agree with the comment from IPS above, and I think #8 is missing the point. Nowhere does IPS say that he knows what it's like to work with Eric, or that he has any insight into his personality "behind closed doors" --- and neither do any of the previous posters, which it seems to me is exactly the point. It all comes off as a bunch of jealous celebrity-bashing gossip from people who don't have anything better to do than badmouth a local boy made good. It's petty, and kind of depressing, the way we eat our young around here.
IPS -- Are you implying that "meeting Lovold a number of times" gives you insight into his demeanor and personality behind closed doors and/or in a musical setting? It is not difficult to wear the personable, humble veneer in public in fact, isnt that how the majority of people, especially those in the public eye, present themselves? Your couple of meetings do nothing to validate or discredit the claims of the commenters before you and, in fact, youve actually made yourself look quite foolish criticizing these folks while at the same time claiming first-hand knowledge of someone based on minimal interaction. I happen to know Eric personally, believe it or not, and while I tend to think some of these takes are a bit extreme, they are not unfounded and tend to be quite a bit closer to reality than not. Take it for what its worthwhich, I realize, probably isnt much.
I've met Lovold a number of times and he's been nothing but gracious and humble, despite his considerable talents and success. I wonder why you guys are so eager to peg him as a dirtball based on vague second-hand rumors from someone who can't even spell the guy's name right. Knee-jerk iconoclasm is so 2002. Please try to keep up.
I hope they're broken up haha. Talk about too much undeserved attention for waaaayyy too long... go away already, or do somethin better!!! Good live show and performers, I'll give em that, and the dude did have a killer backing band other than lead guitarist who was quite average. Liked his vocals live too, but not on the cd.
Uhh...someone might want to tell the Alarmists they've broken up. Their myspace blog as of last week says a new album is coming out in June.
This is too bad but not surprising. I know plenty of musicians and music writers in town and it is pretty widly known that Eric Luvold is an ego-maniac.. so it kinda makes sense that he's burned through multiple bandmates. Sounds like the classic case of one guy becoming bigger than the group here and everyone knows that formula doesn't work for very long. Too bad because he's definitely shown he has some talent as a song-writer. Oh well, I wonder if/when Eric and the rest of the ex-Alarmists will resurface... I doubt we've heard the last of these guys and I'm curious to see what's next from these talented (yet over-hyped?) youngsters.
