Adrian Peterson

Running back Adrian "All Day" Peterson's propensity for freakish, did-he-really-just-do-that? flair was evident to most Vikings diehards since training camp. It wasn't until his October 14 performance at Soldier Field—in which he reduced the Bears' secondary into hapless Pop Warner scrubs while rushing for a franchise record 224 yards—that he burst into the national consciousness as a bona fide phenom. Three weeks later, after he set the NFL record for most rushing yards in a game (296), the hushed comparisons to Walter Payton and Jim Brown no longer seemed hyperbolic or premature. The 6' 2", 218-pound Peterson looked healthy during February's Pro Bowl, his 129 rushing yards and two touchdowns garnering him the game's MVP award. The best part for Vikings fans? The 23-year-old will be donning purple and gold until at least 2012.
