The food was great but the employees are thieves. I gave them my card, they ran the purchase amount then handed me the receipt to sign. Since I was leaving a cash tip, I crossed out the tip line and carried the balance down. But the amount charged to my account included the tip, which means they re-ran my card with a higher purchase amount. I called them to get my money back and was told they couldn't credit my card, which I know for a lie because I work at a bank, and was promised a refund via a mailed check. Two weeks passed and I hadn't gotten a check, so I called about it and they hung up on me. What they don't know is that I'm a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and their behavior tells me that they are purposely committing fraud. In this instance they stole my cash tip and added it to my card, but I wouldn't be surprised if they also run cards for a higher amount and take cash from the register. So my caution to anyone considering going here, check your statement to make sure they don't steal from you too.
BEST TACOS - 2008
Dominguez Family Restaurant
There are a lot of reasons to stop into Dominguez Family Restaurant, from the bottomless nachos served toasty warm to the always-quick service and friendly atmosphere. But principal on the list are the tacos. Tacos aren't a complicated thing, if done in traditional Mexican style—two corn tortillas, cilantro, onion, a meat of choice, and a slice of lime are the only ingredients required—but like a finely mixed drink, there's something greater than the sum of the parts in the way Dominguez puts theirs together. Some of the more exotic ingredients in the Lake Street taquerias, like tripe and tongue, aren't available, but Dominguez makes up for the lack of selection with flavor. We especially recommend the shrimp tacos: Cooked to perfection, the shrimp take on a deep, meaty flavor that combines scrumptiously with the soft bite of cilantro.
