We should note up front that the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory—the two main attractions of Como Park—request a free-will donation upon entrance, so this outing is "free" only in the technical sense. (C'mon, people! It's only two bucks for adults and one for children!) Which means that besides taking bucolic respite in the sprawling, 348-acre park, you can fritter away the day beholding majestic mountain gorillas through full-length glass, gazing upon roaming bison, or getting up close and personal with giant zebras. Stroll through the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory, breathe deep the lush humidity, and fondle the myriad ferns 'neath soaring coconut palms. Bring a picnic lunch and you can spend the entire day without spending a dime.
