What's with the busy signal on both the local 612 number AND the toll free? Two days, Over 12 attempts. Perhaps the "free delivery" is a bit overstated?
BEST LIQUOR STORE - 2008
Liquor stores in economically struggling neighborhoods don't generally have the most sterling reputations. Such geographically challenged purveyors of fine wines and malt beverages are often viewed as cancers on poor neighborhoods, sapping folks who can ill afford it of their initiative and their paychecks. But Merwin Liquors, at the North Side crossroads of Lyndale and Broadway avenues, is a rough-hewn gem. The 8,000-square-foot booze emporium accommodates all tastes and incomes, from $2.99 bottles of Mad Dog 20/20 to $16.99 four-packs of Belgian ale. Even better, for those who don't live on the North Side, in October Merwin Liquors began offering free delivery on purchases of at least $25. That means discerning booze purchasers across the Twin Cities now have access to Merwin's fantastic deals. On any given week, price-conscious imbibers might find a liter of Jack Daniels going for under $20, a case of Coors Light for $15.99, or a 750 ml bottle of Patron Silver tequila for $34.99. Permanent weekday specials are equally enticing. Wine sales are discounted 10 percent on Mondays, while all purchases of $100 or more on Thursdays merit a 10 percent markdown, with a 20-pound bag of ice thrown in gratis.
