Comments (0) BEST THUNDER PLAYER - 2007

Freddy Juarez

Former U.S. men's national soccer team midfielder Richie Williams was semi-affectionately known as the Ankle-Biting Midget of Death. He earned this moniker because of his diminutive stature, but also because he played the game with a tenacity more commonly associated with cockroaches and paparazzi. Freddy Juarez is the Thunder's ABMOD. Though Juarez lacks size, he more than makes up for it with grit, poise, and intelligence. The 29-year-old is a calming force in the middle of the field, coolly knocking the ball around the pitch. Conversely, Juarez is an absolute menace for opposing sides, consistently disrupting attacks with crackling slide tackles and a suicidal disregard for his physical well-being. The Thunder endured a dispiriting season in 2006, finishing tied for last in the First Division. Hopefully Juarez can help rejuvenate the squad.
