Galactic Pizza, with its pizza-tossing Buddha logo, is what lifelong Minnesotans call "different." Fortunately, we like it that way. Located in Uptown on Lyndale just across from Herkimers and the VFW, Galactic is hard to miss, with its brilliant yellow-and-blue paintjob, red awning, and checkerboard floor. It's also hard to miss the delivery people. When the weather is right, they arrive by electric car, dressed as superheroes. And heroes they are for fighting the munchies in the most eco- and community-friendly ways possible. Pizzas include traditional toppings (which are generally organic and/or locally purchased) as well as more adventurous items such as vegan chicken, fresh cilantro, bison sausage, vegan cheese, and peanuts. That's right, peanuts (quite tasty on the Thailander; $16.75). But the crime-fighting doesn't stop there: Galactic Pizza also gives back to the community as much as possible, donating 5 percent of its after-tax profits to charity.
