BEST GARDEN CENTER Minneapolis 2006 - Lyndale Garden Center

Readers' Choice: Bachman's

Come early April, Minnesota gardeners are suffering from serious flower envy. Our friends to the south of us are happily cutting tulips and daffodils from their perennial gardens while we're forced to fake it for another seven weeks by filling out vases with supermarket bouquets. Toward the end of April, it's more than envy; it's downright resentment. In short, gardening in the north land is a test of patience. Thankfully, there's the abundant supply of garden goodies at the sprawling and locally owned Lyndale Garden Center to keep those itching to get their hands dirty preoccupied until the last frost in early May. Here you'll find a wide assortment of reasonably priced annuals, from vines to flowers; plenty of herbs that you can start growing indoors; aisles of window boxes and a variety of clay and plastic containers; food for the birds, butterflies, and squirrels; and plenty of dirt, fertilizers, and heartier perennials to get you started. If you need help with your planning, the employees at Lyndale Garden Center know the differences between Salvia and Sage and a Money Plant and a Moneywort. Come May and June, when we're filling our carts with the latest hybrids from Lyndale Garden Center and watching our tulips and cherry trees bloom as we plant, the wait will seem worth it.
