BEST USED CLOTHING (KIDS) - 2003
Since kids grow as fast as the national deficit, it's good to know Savers offers everything from layettes to leotards for a pint-sized price. At 50 cents a T-shirt, who cares if the kids think fingerpaint is body glitter? At $2 a dress, what does it matter if the kids look like they came from a mud-wrestling championship rather than the ballet? If you're lucky, you might even find a little something spiffy for yourself on the vintage racks. Not only is Savers packed with bargains, it's packed with teachable moments. For instance, polyester pants (from "when Mom was in elementary school") will seem downright historic to anyone under 10, and might spark the telling of family stories (and a lesson about fashion "don'ts"). It's also worth noting that there's a YWCA located directly across the street, where a children's swimming serves as the perfect reward/bribe for small fries who behave beautifully while you browse.
