Sometimes we think Minneapolis mayor R.T. Rybak should give a medal to each and every Mexican family in south Minneapolis. And the ones in St. Paul, too, even though they're pretty clearly out of his jurisdiction. (Obviously no one wants a medal from the governor, because that guy is a big goober, but hey!) Maybe we could get Jesse to give them out, because he can't be too busy anymore. These medals, they would be little golden medals of sunbeams, or chili peppers, or both, and they would all be engraved with something that said: Thank God. Thank God you came here and saved us from ourselves. Thank God you came here and gave us Minnesotans the one thing we could not give ourselves. And by that, of course, we mean spice, heavenly spice, which you have generously started supplying us up and down Lake Street, among other locations. But especially on Lake Street, in places like Manny's Tortas, Pineda 2 Tacos, La Loma tamales, and many, many others. Thank God for you, you Mexican Power Surge. You are a blessing.
