Comments (0) BEST PUNK RADIO PROGRAM - 2003

Radio Riot

For anyone still laboring under the illusion that punk rock is a) dead, b) synonymous with MTV2, or c) as monotonous as a Jello Biafra speech, here's a shockingly good counterargument. Hosted by record impresario and Maximumrocknrolll and Profane Existence music columnist Felix Havoc, Radio Riot flows like the smoothest dance mixtape. But instead of beat matching (ha!) or crossfading (ha ha!), Havoc and cohorts simply offer the perfect variety of raw, screaming, speeding rock 'n' roll each Monday night from 12:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. No other program of any stripe knows its genre so deeply, from week-old Japanese hardcore to decades-old British oi to last month's American crust. Every era, style, and nation of origin imaginable joins the riot.
