The long-reigning heavyweight champ of Twin Cities movies-and-music-in-the-park programs is prepared to duke it out in order to retain the title this year. Indeed, boxing is the subject of the films in this year's series (co-presented by Walker Art Center and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board), and, as befits a hot-weather curatorial aesthetic that has always been wiggier than Don King's 'fro, the bouts here range from featherweight (The Main Event on August 11) to colossal (Requiem for a Heavyweight throws the program's first punch on July 21). At press time, the Walker had yet to book the local bands to precede the half-dozen Monday night main events--but we're guessing that the likes of light jazz won't last a round amid the combative vibe. As the titular bruiser of Rocky (August 25) would put it: Yo, Adrian--grab a blanket and get in the ring.
