BEST PLACE TO MEET SINGLE MEN (GAY) - 2003
Okay, so it may not be the most romantic club in the metro, but that obviously hasn't kept loads of gay singles from hooking up at the Cities' premier gay-owned-and-operated boy bar. The high-energy dance music attracts an up-for-anything younger crowd not found among Boom's aristocratic patrons or the late-to-the-party trendies at Gay 90's drag nights. The clientele is fun, the dance floor is quite busy, and the club has a comfortable, no-frills ambience. Thursdays can get pretty wild during DJ Walter McLean's "Boys Night Out," when the music is at its adrenaline-driving best and the doors open for those under 21, too. You'll find a group more diverse in age in the back bar, called "The Tank," which appeals to the growing number of local leather fetishists. (Also hit "Hard Monday," which caters to leather-clad industrial music lovers.) Strike up a conversation about George Michael's Wham! days at S.I.N. '80s night on Wednesdays or get down and diva on "Twerk It" Fridays, featuring house DJ Jason Lanoux. Arrive before 12:35 a.m. and use the $5 you'd save on the cover charge to buy that cutie a cocktail--the drinks are strong, and so are the come-ons. Just the way we like 'em. Hours: Sunday to Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m., Friday and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.
