BEST MARGARITA - 2002
As you slide into a booth in the bar area--under the industrial ranch décor of barbed-wire wreaths and lasso light fixtures--you may be momentarily overwhelmed by the two dozen margarita choices on the menu. You could try the tart "Baja Breeze," a concoction of tequila, triple sec, grapefruit juice, and cranberry juice ($5.95). Or the sweet "Pecos Peach," which mixes peach schnapps and peach purée with tequila and lime juice ($7.95). Or the exotic "West Texas Sunset," a combination of tequila, triple sec, orange juice, and pomegranate juice ($6.95). But if you're more of a purist, you'll want to opt for the "Bar Argarita," this Uptown establishment's signature margarita ($6.95). This libation blends tequila, lime juice, and Cointreau for a velvety, not-too-syrupy taste--and a mighty kick. A couple of these--they're all a buck off during happy hour--and you'll be making eyes at the twentysomethings perched on the nearby cowhide-upholstered barstools, feeling buoyed not just by the tequila, but by the crooning Mexican pop playing over the loudspeakers.
