Asia Imports isn't much on décor, so shopping at this unassuming grocery is more of a fragrant pleasure than a visual one. Sacks of jasmine and basmati rice perfume the area near the back, and the odors that emanate from the spice aisle create an appetizing potpourri of cumin, paprika, chili powder, mustard, star anise, and, of course, the various elements that make up a fine curry powder. Many of the wares are displayed in opened cardboard cases, but don't let the utilitarian mode fool you: The selection is vast, from the bags of flour to the assortment of dried lentils and beans, from the freezer section filled with ready-made delicacies to the pickles. And oh, those pickles! A person could spend an hour perusing them. But not on Tuesday. Asia Imports is closed Tuesdays.
