Comments (0) BEST BLUES BAR - 2002

Famous Dave's BBQ and Blues

Yes, we know it's a rib chain located in a mall. We also know that since the demise of Frogtown's Blues Saloon, there has been no better place in the Twin Cities to consistently catch high-profile national blues acts, along with the cream of the local blues crop. Last March, for example, Eddie Shaw, Magic Slim, and Alberta Adams all came through, and the top cover price was a meager three bucks (many nights the music is free). The stage is relatively spacious, the sound system is very good, and the dance floor, while small, is there for the steppin' when the spirit moves. So ignore the ersatz subway sounds, decide for yourself how many brews and slabs of meat you need, and concentrate on topnotch performances emanating from the front of the room. Chase the blues with the blues, and you'll be more than just fine.
