BEST BINGO GAME

Why are bingo games treated like the butt of a joke? Of course we all have visions of those beehived, horn-rimmed, polyester-wearing grandmas calling the numbers. But goshdarnit, this is a skill! Witness the denizens of Saints or any other bingo hall worth its salt. The pros often work ten or more game boards at a time. And forget about lining up your numbers in a simple row; there are many, many patterns involved, and Saints has the purse to match the game. Evening games run on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:00 p.m., Friday at 7:15 p.m. and 9:15 p.m., and feature $99 pots for winners who set up a Crazy T, a Two Hardway, or a Lucky Four-Leaf Clover. The 12:15 p.m. matinees on Wednesdays and Fridays feature lower winnings ($25), but the big-money jackpot keeps 'em coming back at midday. That's because whenever you fill up your card entirely during any jackpot session, you take home $500. The rest of the time, this bingo hall is a roller-skating rink, so the décor is better suited to preteens in love with Britney Spears--but hey, uttering that sweet Bingo! is really all that matters.
