BEST BEER SELECTION IN A BAR Minneapolis 2002 - William's Uptown Pub & Peanut Bar
2911 Hennepin Ave. S.
Minneapolis, MN 55408
Sometimes you just have to give Goliath his due. Sure, David had moxie. But there's something to be said for unabashed bigness. That's why we drive SUVs that should have their own congressmen, and shop in grocery stores where you need a GPS to find the produce aisle. According to quantitative criteria, Williams in Uptown is the uncontested heavyweight champion of the universe when it comes to beer selection. With 300 bottled beers upstairs and 72 brews on tap downstairs--ranging from hand-crafted microbrews like Rogue Dead Guy Ale from Oregon and Colorado's Lefthand Sawtooth Ale to a distinguished selection of imported English lagers and German maibocks--one could conceivably visit Williams every night of the year without ever drinking the same thing twice. Although the upstairs bar occasionally feels like Pledge Friday on Greek Row, the mellower downstairs area, which has foosball and darts, is a decent place to kick (and knock) back.
