BEST YARN SHOP Minneapolis 2001 - Depth of Field Yarn
Whatever your skill level, we recommend this cozy shop for all your knitting needs. They have everything from warm Icelandic wool and willowy hand-painted mohair to delicate bamboo knitting needles and funky reading glasses complete with that beaded, little-old-lady chain. You can always find someone to help you with that sleeve that somehow got too long, or the sock that only a Somerset Maugham character could love. And unlike most stores dedicated to needlecraft, Depth of Field is open until 8:00 p.m. on weeknights, so you don't have to save your emergencies for the weekends. On a recent visit, the place was packed with college students. Sifting through the bargains stored above the main floor in the loft, one young woman remarked on how things are backward from the way they used to be. "Instead of my grandmother or mom teaching me to knit, I'm teaching them," she explains. "They already knew some things. But they'd never really gotten into it. Now we all knit together."
