Roger Beck Florist

Beck has been somewhat nomadic over the years. Once upon a time you could find his shop in the Conservatory, a downtown Minneapolis retail space that has since been returned to the earth. Then he had a spot on LaSalle Avenue next to the Van Dusen mansion, but frankly, parking was a problem. Beck's latest location on South Lyndale is his most accessible yet. You can cherry-pick your own individual flowers (an orchid here, a lily there) from the large, walk-in cooler. Or, better yet, you can put your trust in the staff. Beck's arrangers have a knack for simple, stunning arrangements that will floor whomever you're sending them to. And while it will look like you spent a fortune, you don't have to: A splendid spring arrangement starts in the neighborhood of $35. The shop also features an array of vases (in a rainbow of colors), a smartly chosen selection of greeting cards and gift wrap, candles, imported chocolates, and other trifles. After all, if you're sending someone else flowers, you have to buy something sweet for yourself.
