You'll be forgiven if, upon stepping through Nora's heavy, mahogany-stained front door, you suspect you've fallen through some kind of noir portal and onto the set of Blue Velvet. Nora's may be located a short Rollerblade away from the heart of trend central, but you won't catch any hipsters nursing bloody Marys and hoping no one will see them in the same suede pants they wore last night at Chino Latino. Nope, Nora's is heavy on burgundy carpeting, etched glass, and dark, dark wood. The choices aren't froufrou either: baked ham, popovers, scrambled eggs, fruit salad, Danish, and other hotel-style breakfast standards. You can't get a made-to-order omelet, much less a frittata, but that seems just fine with the Zubaz-wearing regulars. Where else can you belly up to an all-you-can-eat brunch buffet for a mere $7.99 (choice of juices included)? Arrive first thing if you want one of the primo seats next to the glassed-in fireplace. Brunch is served from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. every Sunday.
