It may be true that Minnesota has oodles and oodles of well-kept, 'blade-friendly trails, and it may be true that the dang things were invented here, but, honey, try telling that to two feet of snow. Don't mean a whole goshdarn lot in January, now, does it? And so enter...the Hubert H. Metrodome. Truly, what's more important: outdoor baseball or indoor 'blading? (Note to Sid Hartman: It's a rhetorical question.) Each year from November to April, the Dome opens its climate-controlled concrete concourses to local Rollerblade enthusiasts. Admission is $6 ($5 for students and $4 for kids). Skate rentals are available ($5), but safety gear's free, as is parking in the lot adjacent to Gate D. Skaters are segregated by skill level so that (upstairs) you're never tripping over kids just learning to skate and (downstairs) you're never mowed down by burly fifteen-year-old boys who started skating the same year they started walking. Plus, wherever you are, you're never more than a minute's dash from a hot dog.
