BEST BIKE TRAIL

Between Downtown Minneapolis and Highway 100

The great attribute of an urban bike trail is that it leads you through familiar city sights while also providing the peace of nature. Hop on at the edge of downtown, at Glenwood Avenue and 12th Street N., and ride under I-394 along the Burlington Northern railroad tracks. Cedar Lake Trail will take you west, out to Highway 100 in St. Louis Park. About halfway along the trail, you'll reach the Cedar Lake Park Conservancy Area (just across the tracks from the playing fields at Bryn Mawr Meadows), where, if you'd rather, you can veer southward onto the Kenilworth Trail. Angling between Cedar Lake and the Kenwood Bluffs, this path ties into the still-under-construction Midtown Greenway and eventually to the Hennepin County trail that runs out to Hopkins.
