Many so-called happy hours around town only last a couple of hours and offer some nominally discounted drink prices. At Porter's, happy hour is a marathon event: Two-for-one drinks from 3:30 until 7:30 p.m., every day of the week. You'll be surprised how happy you can get for so little. Porter's also features discounts on many appetizers during that period (two beef or chicken tacos for $1.25 is the best buy if you're on a budget). It's not uncommon to find this Whittier neighborhood watering hole overflowing during the prime post-work hours of libation and recreation. But like the song says, "Although it's always crowded, you still can find some room." If you've got the stamina, a second happy hour begins at 10:30 p.m. and lasts until midnight.
