BEST PREPARED FOODS Minneapolis 1998 -

That last-minute meeting went ridiculously long (as usual), and now you've got 20 minutes to calm down, trade in your corporate cap for your home-life hat, and put a healthy dinner on the table. Impossible? Not if you allow the good folks at the Linden Hills deli counter to lend assistance. First stop by the juice bar for a shot of wheatgrass juice to give you energy. Then, as you sip your cocktail, the helpful deli staff will let you taste their offerings to help you settle on your menu for the evening. To start, how about a soup--say, the butternut squash white bean ginger? Some emerald greens, perhaps--kale sautéed with red-pepper strips, sesame seeds, and sesame oil. Next, on to a nicely seasoned turkey loaf and to go with it a side dish of Sri Lankan curry orzo (a spicy pasta salad laden with toasted peanuts, ginger, broccoli, carrots, and garlic). Stick a loaf of bread in your cart, and a selection or two from the fantastic dessert case (mile-high chocolate mousse cake for the kids, spice cake with cardamom-coffee icing for you?). The rich who lead hectic lives have personal chefs; the rest of us scatterbrains have Linden Hills Co-op.
