Comments (0) BEST MIDDLE EASTERN GROCERY - 1998

A half-dozen varieties of dates, cheeses such as kashkaval, akawi, and tabriz, along with French and Egyptian double-cream feta. Dozens of olives, hot pickles, tzatziki, tabbouleh, baba ghannouj, pomegranate juice, six different kinds of Turkish Delight. Lamb in every imaginable permutation (including whole; on a recent visit, a whole baby lamb could be had for about $30), spices, and an extensive deli case, from which you can order all manner of made-on-the-premises desserts, as well as take-out sandwiches and dinners. Imagine if Lund's were filled with spicy fragrance and lively music pouring out from tinny speakers--and no Range Rovers in the parking lot.
