Every year we revisit Asia Imports thinking that this is the year the competition will have finally outpaced them. And every year we're wrong. The store continually expands its selection and capacity--if present trends continue, we might just have to rename it Asia Imports Greatland. They've got a cookware and statuary section, West Indian and Sri Lankan grocery sections, and the variety of Indian chickpea TV snacks must have doubled. And still they manage to stock all the treats we love: pistachio saffron ice cream, bags of basmati rice the size of freezer chests, chutneys, curries, pickles, rosewater, teas, packaged Turkish Delight, frozen dals and raitas--and fresh nan on the weekends.
