Minneapolis lost its Cheers when the Sunrise Inn closed in early 2017, but Esker Grove proprietors Doug Flicker and Amy Greeley brought the institution back with a roar in October. The Sunrise spirit has been preserved in the bar’s down-home, you-call-it atmosphere, despite the fact that the endearing 3.2 license has been upgraded to allow for stronger beers. The place has a better menu than any dive ought to (try the dill pickle fried chicken), but you can still order 40s of Colt 45. Feed the jukebox and relax—you’re gonna want to stay all night.
