Best Wild Player

Mikael Granlund

A year ago, Mikael Granlund was on the verge of plunging into that Neverland known as Great Wild Disappointments. He may have had the moves of Baryshnikov, but he was easily pushed from the puck and carried a bad case of Scandinavian Center Disease, in which no shot was too good to pass up. Enter Bruce Boudreau. The new coach not only convinced Granlund to employ his electric shot with a sniper’s precision, but moved him to the wing, where his speed and superb passing have more room to race. The result of those efforts: Granlund has become the Wild’s leading scorer. He may soon become the most skilled forward Minnesota has seen since Neal Broten.
