Best Sign of Spring

Kids Flocking to Como Park Zoo

The first sign of spring has nothing to do with groundhogs or baseball or swallows descending on Capistrano. The definitive signal is this: the crush of children once again arriving at the Como Zoo. Since it’s owned by the city, entrance is free. There are certainly bigger, better, and grander zoos, but Como’s modest size and easy walkability make it perfect for families with small children. It also comes equipped with an old-time amusement park, a fabulous arboretum, and massive picnic grounds. For households with pint-sized members, it’s the Twin Cities’ greatest treasure.
