At last, the North Loop neighborhood has the hotel it was always fairly confident it deserved. With brightly lit letters on the roof, a distinct awning on the first floor, and five stories of red brick, Hewing brings an elegant presence that fits right in with the burgeoning neighborhood’s vibe. Inside, its lamp-lit rooms are simple and rustic — brick, metal, wood, and windows — without skimping on a stitch of quality. It’s also got an impressive, Nordic-flavored restaurant (Tullibee), and is beginning to ramp up as an event-hosting space. When your stylish out-of-town friend asks about Hewing, tell her to book it. Not that you need it, but it’ll be nice to have an excuse to treat the city’s hippest new hotel as your living room for the night.
