Minnesota’s not known for mountains, and a trip to Buck Hill will not change that fact. But if someone in your family insists on skiing or snowboarding without the aid of a plane ticket, let him or her try out Buck Hill. The rest of you should hit the tubing hill. The occasional ice patch might ruin a decent run on skis or a board; on a tube, it’s the whole point. Race your kids or your date, and try not to fall over. Or wait for the late-night special, a $10 deal for the last hour Buck Hill’s open. If sledding faster and faster, screaming to yourself in the dark, doesn’t make you feel like Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation, we can’t help you.
