The hottest ice cream shop in the metro, hell, maybe in the country, opened in the sub-zero temps of January. Milkjam is the latest endeavor from chef Sameh Wadi, of Saffron and popular fast casual spot World Street Kitchen, and located next door to the latter in Uptown. A rotating menu of 16 inventive flavors with witty names like Cereal Killers (orange coriander milk with candied fruity pebbles) and Indian Elvis (curry peanut butter banana) are served in homemade cones, in sundaes, or as Jam Buns, an over-the-top ice cream sandwich made with Glam Doll doughnuts. Looking for a buzz? There are also adult ice cream floats made with sparkling wine or beer. Lactose intolerant? So is Wadi, so you can wipe away those tears — many of the selections are vegan.
