Best of
the Twin Cities
Any bean-to-bar chocolate maker almost automatically earns the moniker of "best" thanks to dedication alone. We have very few of those in the state, but K'ul (pronounced "cool," Mayan for "chocolate") is one of them. And they aren't just shilling sugar, either; these chocolates are energy bars. After researching low-glycemic bar alternatives for bike racing, founder Peter Kelsey, former owner of the New French Bakery, landed on chocolate. Additions like maca, guarana, cranberries, and pumpkin seeds up the nutritional quotient. It's absolutely delicious, it also just happens to be good for you. Nirvana, achieved. Pro tip: Get bars made to order, before your eyes, at their Seward neighborhood storefront.
