We in the Twin Cities are a multifaceted people. We tend to like things simple, humble, and with as few frills as possible. But that doesn't mean we don't deserve to be happy. The Half Time Rec falls perfectly into that sweet spot. From the outside, it doesn't look like much. Hell, it doesn't from the inside, either. It's just a classic neighborhood bar with hockey on the TV and old beer signs on the walls. But then you see the menu, a mouth-watering array of classed-up Irish pub food crafted by big-deal chef Jack Riebel, formerly of Butcher and the Boar. Of course, you could take your visitors there, or to any number of other swanky joints. But you can get that experience in any city in America. This one, a perfect blend of blue-ribbon food and blue-collar digs, can only be found here.
