Five years ago, a lot of people had their eyes on local supervillain Tom Petters. Only one, however, was drawing what he saw. Sketching cartoons of the day-to-day happenings of the trial helped put Ken Avidor on the map in the eyes of many. The steady stream of work he's produced since that time has made him one of the most prolific and dynamic artists in our insanely talent-rich cities. Whether he's capturing fairgoers at the Minnesota State Fair, sharing his view of other artists through sketches like he did this past fall at the St. Paul Classical Music Crawl, or penning his own graphic novel as he did last spring with the 10-part saga Bicyclopolis, Avidor is equal parts clever, creative, and observant of the nuances of everyday life.
