Finding a bar or club to catch some great live comedy has become easier and easier over the years, with more stages hosting showcases and open-mic nights. But if you really want to see the good, bad, and ugly of local comedy, you need to hit up the Death Comedy Jam, every Wednesday at Grumpy's in downtown Minneapolis. Now in its 13th year, the Death Comedy Jam is easily the most brutal room for comedy, which also makes it the most fun. While other clubs in town are known for their smart, comedy-savvy crowds, you never know who or what might happen on any given Wednesday at Grumpy's. Hosted by veteran comedian Chris Maddock, the show has seen some of the biggest names in comedy drop in for a late-night, no-holds-barred set that the most hardcore comedy fans would kill to see. Other nights, the show breaks down into a standoff between boozed-up Twin Cities comedy regulars and even boozier crowds of hecklers looking to get in on the action. No matter what, there is no such thing as a boring night at Death Comedy Jam.
