Compared to what's happening in other galleries around the Twin Cities, there's something very different about the aesthetic presented at Bockley Gallery. While some of the artists that Bockley represents — such as Jim Denomie, Andrea Carlson, and Julie Buffalohead — have been showcased at other local spaces and around the country, seeing solo shows of artists of such caliber in an intimate space is a real treat. Bockley offers group shows as well, with an intriguing mix of fresh voices. The gallery features many of the most distinctive Native voices in Minnesota, as well as outliers like Dietrich Sieling, Lauren Roche, and Zoran Mojsilov. The gallery, situated on the same block as Birchbark Books and Native Arts in the Kenwood neighborhood, offers a cozy atmosphere to get to know some of the most exciting local artists.
