It's understandable if you feel the need to flee Minnesota during the cruel winter months. So how about a trip to the tropics? At the Minnesota Zoo, you can pretend to be on vacation while exploring a simulated rainforest. Along the Tropics Trail there's plenty of flora and fauna to take in while enjoying a humidity rarely experienced in the Midwest during wintertime. Lush greenery and orchids can be spotted, as well as warm-weather-loving animals like monkeys, toucans, and sloths. Watching the fish flitting about the gorgeous tropical reef is a highlight. Added bonus: All of this can be enjoyed at a temp warm enough to forgo a coat. That is, until you leave.
